New Moon, Ostara and Eclipse

This is a huge week astrologically.

Tomorrow is Ostara – the Spring Equinox. It’s also the New Moon – a supermoon to boot. And in parts of Europe and the North Pole there is a total solar eclipse.

So I’ve been trying to research all week to really understand the significance of this.

Ostara: Dawn And New Beginnings

According to one of my favorite Celtic Pagan blogs, The Goddess And The Green Man, Ostara is:

A point of perfect balance on the journey through the Wheel of the Year.  Night and day are of equal length and in perfect equilibrium – dark and light, masculine and feminine, inner and outer, in balance.  But the year is now waxing and at this moment light defeats the dark.  The natural world is coming alive, the Sun is gaining in strength and the days are becoming longer and warmer.  The gentle whispered promise of Imbolc is fulfilled in the evident and abundant fertility of the Earth at Ostara.  It is time for the hopes of Imbolc to become action.  The energy is expansive and exuberant.  It is the first day of Spring!

The Earth is finally waking up! I’ve already started my magical herb garden – my seedlings are sprouted and on their way to transplant size. I have no patience for these things and couldn’t wait. But there are spiritual and emotional seeds to plant. It’s the time for plans to become actions. For things that were hidden beneath the surface to break through and feel the light of the sun.

A new dawn. A new day. A brand new season!

New Moon In Pisces

The new moon occurs at 5:36 AM (Eastern), less than an hour before the moon moves from Pisces into Aries. New moons are new beginnings. This one occurs in the last degree of Pisces – so its not just a new beginning, its an ending. Time to clear out the things that no longer serve us and move forward into new paths and phases of our life. Again, new dawn. New day. New season!

Total Eclipse

The highest point of the eclipse happens at 5:45 AM Eastern. According to OM Times:

The Pisces New Moon Solar Eclipse is an Alpha-and-Omega event. It’s bringing endings and beginnings of epic proportions, unifying and eliminating while yanking us out of hibernation in accelerated blossoming…

Unstoppable, emotional to the max and all-encompassing, the Pisces New Moon is unleashing a tsunami that washes away everything that doesn’t fit on our recently restructured platforms — and delivers that power right into the rebirth-of-fire-and-life that comes with the beginning of spring.

So… my understanding of all of this is that basically each of these 3 different events are magnifying the others. Turbocharging each other. OM Times compares it to a scene change during a stage play – the lights go down, the stage and characters are rearranged, and they come back up on a whole new scene.

For me, Pisces falls in the 5th house. My house of creativity, passion, romance. According to Molly Hall writing for about.com:

A Neptunian flooding in the fifth house is your artist within’s dream come true. The muse is near, for getting strong messages about what (and who) you love most. Be alert to themes and paths of seeking that are enriching for your journey. Dreams now are a sneak preview of what’s possible, if you are fully engaged, 100%. Let go of what’s become routine, and “going through the motions,” to invite new inspiration. Your children can mystify you with their joyful connection to the creative river. Or you meet the child in you, and remember that natural enthusiasm.

I can definitely say that I can feel the muse returning after several months of a dry spell. This blog for one, and some things with my work that are finally starting to turn around.

But I will be meditating in the morning … probably not at the time of the new moon and eclipse. I do plan on greeting the sunrise tho. I’ll let you know if I discover anything new.
