In January my grandmother was in the hospital. She very nearly died, and I drove back to the town I grew up in to see her. I didn’t know if it would be the last time I’d ever see her.
My grandmother and grandfather practically raised me. I’ve always been very close to them. So needless to say this was a very difficult time for me.
I grew up in the Appalachian mountains. That’s all I’ll say for now, as I would like to remain anonymous on this blog until I completely come out to my family. But across the highway from where my grandmother was in the hospital is a lake. I spent an evening at that lake one night while I was there and watched the sunset. And as always, Nature soothed my aching soul. Let me know that everything would be ok.
And it was. Grandma is out of the hospital and still doing ok.
A creek behind a restaurant downtown:
And sunrise from my hotel room window:
As long as I have Nature, I have all that I need!
